My Valentine To Me

Most religions teach that the true secret to happiness is to love Someone outside Yourself. And I do agree that loving someone is the true secret to life and happiness. My First Intention that I quote often and am still trying to plumb the depths of and to follow with all of my heart says:

“I refrain from opposing or harming anyone. I allow others to have their own experiences. I see life in all things and honor it as if it were my own. I support life.”

I believe that we are here to learn to love. And we can only accomplish that by truly loving one person. We do that best when we learn that the hardest and most important person to love has always been “Ourself.” When we truly love ourself we are free to love everyone else for we realize then that there is and has only ever been but one person, named God, We, He, She, It – Me.

I love the Collin Raye song, “If I Were You”, but I have changed a few words and post a link here to my version that I have renamed, “Fall In Love With Me.” You see, I sincerely believe that when each of us truly does that, fall in love with ourself, that we are free to be the “Me” that we were always intended to be.

But I believe that is The Secret

I tried to love God and all the world

But could not till I first loved Me.

It is not selfishness or pride inside

But there the truth we always find

Is having loved the hardest person

We can treat no other soul unkind.

We are all “Not That Different”

It is the “us” in others we reject

And all the while our inner child

Needs us to love and to protect.
