The Perfect Birthday Card

After the Brand New Key song and since today is my birthday, I thought, what the heaven, I will share with you the perfect birthday card that someone who knows and loves me very well sent me. I can’t fool you, I sent it to myself. Well, nobody knows my exquisite and artistic taste as well as I do. Are you smiling yet, look at the card again, such balance and artistry and such good spellers too. Wow, beauty and brains what a combo. Guess I’d better move on before I make an ass of myself – just could not resist, such an easy target. Remind me to tell you that William Tell joke again, “Titty, rump, titty, rump, titty, rump, rump, rump.” Oops, I spoiled the punch line.

Where was I, oh yeah, the perfect birthday card. People don’t mail cards as much as they once did. I still like to tape all of mine up for a few days as a reminder that I am appreciated by others. For several years now I have not as desperately needed that reminder as I have most of my life for I have made my peace with myself and come to appreciate me for the true child of the Universe that I now know myself to be. There is something very good, very God, in me and all of us that is worthy of love and appreciation. And you thought that I just loved pretty girl bottoms, and I do, but so much more, Everybody and everything actually. The more something or someone seems unlovely the harder I try to see God in it or them. And it surprises me less and less how quickly and easily it is becoming to find Waldo in every picture. He is like God in that respect, he is everywhere, in every one and in everything. Our big problem is we just don’t believe He/She is good so we keep misinterpreting the messages.

Like my perfect birthday card they are tailored specifically for us by One who knows our tastes, our preferences, our hang ups, our turn ons. That crazy text editor almost threw in “turnips” so okay, God know our turnips, too. Oh, yeah, He/She has got our number, and whether it is seven or sixty-nine we are going to get lucky every time. There is a winner every minute, or a learner, and that is not a just casino promo. You are loved so completely and utterly that you can feel “born again” every new day just like it was your birthday.

Your friend and fellow traveler,

Saying Happy Birthday to me and all of you, Pilgrims,

David White
