Always Looking For A Wider Audience
As both your Mockingbird and Blogger I am always looking for a wider audience but nevertheless writing and singing to an audience of two, me and you. That is who I sing and write to please, entertain, perhaps instruct, but most especially to encourage. And as long as at least one of us is reading and listening I will continue. If you are on my email Daily Mockingbird Song List and would like to be removed just email me stating so and I will, no reason or explanation necessary and I will not get my feelings hurt. Same if you would like to be put on the list, just email me at dwhite6359@gmail.com and I will add you. If you are reading this blog, I am glad and I hope you subscribe or just check in as you like. I am here for you everyday with something new or at least something old with a new angle.
Here’s a sample from today’s Daily Mockingbird Song email for anyone interested:

I realize it may be a bit presumptuous of me to think anyone wants to read my thoughts or hear my songs but not really – I do and that is one. There may be two, perhaps you, and if others all the merrier. For a couple of years I was on Facebook trying to build a bigger following for this blog but I found the effort not only tedious and time consuming but all the negativity quite draining. I am glad I was on Facebook all of that time because I got to witness first hand, if anecdotally, the great effort to divide the U.S. over the issues and I believe we will yet learn that the Presidential election was indeed effected as the Brits are beginning to learn that their Brexit crisis was orchestrated elsewhere and paid for outside their country.
I am no great conspiracy buff but as the old joke goes, “It isn’t really being paranoid if everyone really is out to get you.” The Russians at least the old hard line Communists do not love democracy and are angry with us for aiding in the fall of the USSR and would like to see Western democracy and pluralism fail as well. And it will if we buy into their setting us at odds against one another, mistrusting one another, feeding the political, religious, and social polarization of the West.
There is a line in a song I love that asks, “What’s so funny about peace, love, and understanding.” The funny thing is nuclear bombs, religion, and politics will never build a better world but PLU (Peace, Love, and Understanding) will. On the nineteen sixties political TV show, Slattery’s People, Richard Crenner played a federal lawmaker representing his district in the US Congress. At the beginning of each show there was read aloud a quote from Winston Churchill:
“Democracy is a very bad form of government but I ask you to remember
all the others are so much worse.”
One person or one group always getting there own way even if they think they are always “right”, are “the good guys”, or “God’s chosen people” is never much fun for the rest of us. Hence, the appeal and necessity of everyone getting a say, as messy and slow a process as that may seem. I can hear a cartoon character from my childhood saying, “Hold on there, Quicks Draw.” Dictators want it done, “My way or the Highway.” Slattery’s people want it done according to Hoyle as my game loving daddy would say – after deliberation and consensus of the will of the people. Now there is an audience the politicians should play to and not just the rich and the shameless.
