My Target Audience

If you are wondering who my target audience is for this daily blog all I can say is that if you are reading it, my target audience is you. You, Dear Reader, are the final judge as to how well that I have hit the target. Though I believe my aim to be true and that I give each effort my very best, I know that I come closer some times and others not so close. I can only hope that I will improve with continued effort but even more than that Inspiration will take my desire to write something meaningful and moving and translate my limited grasp of language and the great truths of life into something worth your while.

I fancy myself, a writer, a speaker, a singer songwriter, and a teacher. But there is only One who does those well, in fact He/She does all things well. I would be but a scribe, a megaphone, a introducer announcing the Singer, the Teacher. I mentioned the song Mockingbird in a recent blog. As a poet I so appreciate well written rhyme and this song is full of them. I share a bit more:

Mockingbird
By Derek Webb

“There are days I don’t believe the words I say,
Like a life that I’m not living,
A song that I’m not singing but to you.

There are times I believe I’m satsfied
Like an Internet connection
Despite this bad reception with you.

‘Cause I can’t afford to pay
For most of what I say
So it’s a lucky thing
That the truth’s public domain.

And I’m like a Mockingbird
With no new song to sing
And I’m like an amplifier
I just tell you what I’ve heard
Just like a Mockingbird.

So yes, it’s true
That I need this more than you
Like one whose name is many
Have mercy please don’t send me away.

And I’ll do all I can
To be a better man
Oh, I’ll clean up this act
But be worse than when we started.

‘Cause I’m like a Mockingbird
Got no new song to sing
I’m like an amplifier
Just tell you what I’ve heard
Just like a Mockingbird.

I’m like a Mockingbird
With no new song to sing
And I’m like an amplifier
I just tell you what I’ve heard
Just like a Mockingbird.
Just like a Mockingbird.
Oh, like a Mockingbird.

I just could not leave anything out so I quoted it all. It is wonderful poem and even more wonderful song with one of the best guitar accompaniment that I ever heard. No wonder my daughter Emily loved it so and knew that I would as well. She knew her audience well and I can only hope to know mine. This one as every one is written just for you.

Your friend and fellow traveler,
David White

  1. Just the way I approach, my writing and sharing, There is no original thought, only collective consciousness and those, like you and I who study the masters and formulate their own message, hoping to inspire, lend a helping hand, comfort, give a much-needed push in a positive direction. Thank you!
