The Importance of Staying Positive

We are told that opposites attract but the opposite is more often true. Magnetically and generally speaking likes attracts like. The Law of Attraction states that what comes to you is attracted by the vibration that you send out. If you are a “Negative Nellie” look around you and you will see negative things. Everyone is tempted to dwell on “bad luck”, “bad breaks”, “bad news”, “bad health”, “bad treatment” by family and friends”. But when we do everything and everyone around us seems “bad.” Fade to black. How do we reverse this terrible spiral into a deep dark black hole? Let a little light in and it will overpower the darkness.

There is a little song that always helps me. It goes, “Always look on the bright side of your life.” Refuse to dwell on “bad news.” Just a drop of black paint in a gallon of light paint can cause it to turn a darker shade but at the same time just the smallest ray of light in a dark room can brighten the situation. Another song lyric that comes to me often says, “Step into the sunshine. Step out of the shade. This is the one time that you’ve got it made. Feel yourself floating right out of your shoes. Step into the sunshine of the great good news.” Good news is way more than the Gospel (that word means good news) a particular religion teaches. If you have been wanting to have a child all of your life and just found out you are pregnant or have been approved to adopt that is also good news. If you have been sweating that big exam that could mean an open door for a new career and just got word you aced it. That, too, is good news. Then there is that scary lab report you have biting your nails about and one word, “Benign” and you are shouting “Yippie Kie Yeah.”

Since it makes us so happy – why do we waste so much time listening, thinking, and worrying about “Bad news.” One News Network, in particular, calls itself “Fair and Balanced.” I know they mean that they represent the other side’s view too but for a News program to be truly fair and balance the “bad news” would have to give equal time to “the good news.” Once upon a time children were taught that if you can’t say something good about someone don’t say anything at all. Fade to white.

The thoughts we dwell on and the words we speak reveal the lightness or darkness of the signal we are sending out and can predict what is coming to us. Like attracts like. Want to see better things coming your way? Lighten up.
