I wrote this poem a couple of years ago inspired by the turning leaves. Growing up in an area with four equal seasons I was always fascinated with the changing seasons and the way trees seemed to change their attire and embody each season so well. I believe there is a poet, an artist, in every one of us and that we are all moved and touched by beauty in some way or another. Some people like to complain about the winter weather but having lived over thirty five years in an area where there was little or often no winter to speak of I can tell you truly that I missed the winter and truly enjoy the snow and chilling breeze of a blustery winter day. And oh how it prepares you to really appreciate all the budding and blossoming of spring. Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall – enjoy them all with the trees do dress appropriately for the weather.

In Autumn Trees…
By David J. White
In autumn trees
Put on their party dresses
And dancing let them fall
To the winds wild caresses.
In winter their nakedness
Is clothed in white diamonds and furs
As the peaking of sunlight
A vision of wonderland confers.
In spring trees bud and blossom
As if awakening from the dead,
Pretty flowers adorn their flowing locks,
A crown of bird nests ring each head.
In summers trees unfold
Their full umbrellas to the sun and rain
Soon again they don their party attire
As the blazing colorful ball begins again.
