You Tell ‘Em, Snoopy!

Since members of Congress are supposed to be public servants working for us, the people, I also think that we the people should get to have the same healthcare and retirement plan that they get.

e. Pluribus Unum means “out of many one.” The same standard should apply to all or none. The old joke that is not at all funny is: “We have the best government that money can buy.” Sadly President Truman’s famous quote, “Show me someone who gets rich on a government salary and I’ll show you a crook.” is too true.

In November of 1968, on my eighteen birthday, I signed up for induction into the U.S. Army. A couple of months later Richard M. Nixon became our President and my Commander-In-Chief. While I served my enlisted the law was changed to allow eighteen year olds to vote, but I was already twenty-one before I could vote in my first Presidential election. Like the vast majority of the country I voted for Richard Nixon. One of his most famous quotes is: “Americans deserve to know if their President is a crook and I am not a crook.” In 1974 Richard Nixon resigned instead of facing impeachment and removal from office for lying and committing crimes against the nation. He was a crook and accepted a pardon from Gerald Ford whom he had appointed his Vice President after Spiro Agnew resigned in disgrace. He too was a crook and Ford lost his bid to be elected President to Jimmy Carter in 1976. The American people held Nixon’s pardon against him.

There is a movement a foot to rewrite history and to say that Nixon was not a crook. Those of us who lived through those days know better. Want to make America great again, vote the liars and crooks out. You tell ‘em, Snoopy!
