The Hand That Holds the Destiny of America
He was President of the United States of America when I was born in 1950. He was outspoken and sometimes used course language in expressing his strong opinions. The phrase, “Give ‘em hell, Harry!” was said of him more than once. Harry Truman was from Missouri, the Show Me state and after years in public service he knew who his boss was, the voters.
My dad, who always voted, called it exercising his franchise. He went on to say that he voted to maintain his “gripping rights” that people who did not vote had no right to complain about crooked politicians or the state of the Union. Dad was a lot like Harry Truman, he spoke his mind, yet he also knew that We The People are the ones who decide the destiny of America.
Yesterday, was Register To Vote Day. I hope every eligible person has or will register and cast their vote this Tuesday November 3rd.
