Entitlement Is Not A Bad Word

The dictionary defines entitlement as:

That definition does not say that anyone is entitled to have a trillion dollars nor a right to start wars to make themselves, their families, and theirs friends even richer. The Republican Party has for years hated the Social Security Program and tried to destroy entitlement programs across the board.

The Speaker of the House, Republican Congressman Mike Johnson was caught on a hot mike recently revealing Republican plans to “adjust and fix” entitlement programs next year. Some think “They’ll never be able to do that.” But they took away affordable health care from millions, they took away a woman’s right to choose in many states, and are trying to disenfranchise millions of Americans by making it harder for them to vote. 

The most beloved President in that last one hundred years, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, believed that Americans had gotten a raw deal and proposed a New Deal. The greedy capitalists who gave us The Great Depression are at it again. Before it’s too late we desperately need a new deal. 

Entitlement is not a bad word, in fact it sounds a lot like the term “inalienable rights” in the U.S. Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, among which are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Many including John Locke would add Property to that list. It took a terrible Civil War and a half a million soldiers dying to clarify that no one in this great nation is entitled to nor has a right to own another person.

Collectively as a nation about hundred years ago we decided to set up safety net, an entitlement program to “promote the general welfare” and to protect the elderly, the disabled, widows and children whose working parent had died. We called it Social Security. Workers and their Employers each contributed half into the Social Security Trust Fund. If that Trust Fund had not been raided by the government for other purposes much like the Teamsters’ Pension Funds were by corrupt leaders like their long time President Jimmy Hoffa, there might never have been the short falls where Congress had to keep replacing the funds making it look like they were paying for these benefits when the reality is that We the People and our employers pay for these benefits to which we are entitled.

The Republicans have a bill under consideration called Stop The Steal which is another attempt to disenfranchise voters and prevent Democrats from taking back the House and Senate this November.

The proposed aim of the bill is to stop voter fraud of which there is no evidence only conspiracy theories. 

There is however undeniable evidence of a great steal going on that needs to be stopped. Billions of dollars have already been stollen from the U.S. Treasury to enrich the Epstein Class of whom Donald Trump, Bill Gates, and the first trillionaire Elon Musk are founding members. These are people who think themselves so entitled that they are above the laws of fair play and even common decency. Raping and pillaging are not entitlements nor inalienable rights though the super rich seem to think so.
