“Pretty Things I Compile…”
In the den of our home there are two windows that catch the morning sunlight and in those windows atop sheer curtains hang colorful pieces of window art that are in the words of today’s song, A Million Dreams, “…Each one there to make you smile.” I believe a home should be an art collection full of small treasures collected throughout a lifetime to remind us of places that we have visited and beauties we that have beheld that have opened and expanded our hearts and minds to appreciate art in all its forms.

The dragonfly stained glass wall hanging I saw online and ordered many years ago and the zipper dolls I collected over the last several years of my away from home work career as a third party welding and utility inspector. A few were given to me and others I purchased in JoAnn Fabric Shops in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Colorado, Indiana, Wyoming and Texas before they went out of business.
Pretty women, dragonflies, and crystals catch the light and have always caught my attention. The poet has said, “A thing of beauty is a joy forever.” There are unfortunately many things in this life that are disappointing and discouraging and yet there is so much beauty to behold. We should hold on to that beauty and a be encouraged to not believe in nightmares, but rather to dream a million dreams and live to see them all come true.
