The Last Day of April
I recall hearing more than once lately that if the War With Iran lasted till the end of April that the effects on the U.S. and the world would be catastrophic. Today is the last day of April and we shall indeed see if those dire predictions come true.
I have long believed that bullies do not seem to realize that everyone has some power. Jesus, the Prince of Peace did not often speak of war, but one purported reference comes to mind, that no king goes to war without first counting the cost and determining if he has a large enough army to defeat his opponent and if not he negotiates term for peace.
Teddy Roosevelt is famous for “Gun boat diplomacy” and the sound bite, “Speak softly and carry a big stick.” The current occupant of the White House is known for impulsive acts, loud threats, and little follow through. The term TACO stands for “Trump Always Chickens Out.” I, for one, hope that he is wise enough to do so yet again and decides to end this foolish excursion before the already disastrous damage to Iran, Israel, and the Persian Gulf nations and the entire world economy becomes that civilization that he once threatened to destroy.
The founding fathers of this nation did not expect King George the Third, the mad king, to change his mind and let the thirteen colonies reject British rule without a fight. The mad king did not count the cost of that war, bully that he was, he made a terrible and costly mistake. Teddy Roosevelt liked to use the word “Bully” and bullied Venezuela out of land that became Panama so that he could build his ballroom, oops, canal, by parking a battle ship off the shore of Venezuela enabling a puppet government friendly to the U.S. to be established in Panama.
In the 1950’s the C.I.A. sponsored a coup in Iran deposing the democratically elected leader and replacing him with an autocratic dictator:

Who is the biggest bully in this story, the one who is still bullying Venezuela, Iran and the world? Two bullies Trump and Netanyahu have not counted the cost of this war with Iran. The American Empire may have hastened its demise and the nation of Israel as well. One thing for sure is that in addition to all the death and destruction this war has created, the stoppage of oil, natural gas, and fertilizer throughout the Strait of Hormuz will result in higher prices, shortages, and even crop failures that may be far greater and longer lasting than the two bullies above considered.
A couple of quotes come to mind:
“Oh, what a tangled web we weave
when first we practice deceive.”
“They who are ignorant of history
are doomed to repeat it”
