I Take Pictures and I Take Requests

In addition to this daily blog I have several other creative outlets. Long before I started this blog ten years ago I started writing poetry as a creative outlet. Some years ago while I was working in Wisconsin I met a friend and when her first grandchild was born she requested that I read and record a set of children’s books that she had bought for her children when they were little and had kept hoping to give them to a grandchild someday. I told her I would be honored to and after reading those twenty or so volumes I started looking for other children’s books to read and record. I called those filed recordings David Reads Children’s Books and have shared all 293 recording at least twice on this blog as attached links. (A little over a week ago another friend’s young son asked me to read and record The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis for him and I have already read and recorded the first ten chapters of the first book in the book series for him. I am really enjoying reading again The Magician’s Nephew and hope he and others will too.)

Another of my creative outlets over the years has been singing karaoke mostly in smoky bars on karaoke night. Some years ago to avoid the smoke mostly I started recording my karaoke version of many of my favorite songs. This project I have labeled David Sings and I often attach a link to one of these songs to a particular blog. I have not received a lot of requests for songs except from the woman who is more than any other The number one fan of the man from Tennessee, (also a favorite song) my loving and lovely long time wife and companion. I have more than a few times heard the comment, “Don’t quit your day job” and wisely I did not till I retired almost four years ago.

I do take requests however. I have written poetry, read and recorded books, sung and recorded songs, and yes even written and published blogs on certain subjects when asked. I hope that family, friends, followers, and fans have and will continue to finds something entertaining, enlightening, and encouraging in my creative efforts. As a song that I have linked more than a few times expresses, I am just trying to leave something behind.

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David James White
