Modern Technology

For some time now I have been composing and publishing my daily blogs on my IPhone instead of my IPad. The screen is big enough and it was more convenient. However in an effort to improve my posture, reverse my head forward and stooped shoulders, I intended to begin this morning composing, editing, and posting my daily blog on my IPad again. I have positioned it at eye-level over my desk where can sit in a straight-backed chair and maintain a better posture throughout the process. It is but one little step among many that I am making to improve my health and insure that I am doing all I can to remain healthy, happy, and whole for the duration of the rest of this adventure in space and time. People they say who live into their seventies have a better chance of making it to their eighties and nineties. I want to go that even better and making into my second set of teens and hopefully have a lot more fun and make better decisions as a teenager this time.

Technology has improved our lives no doubt. When I first learned how to write, midway through the last century, and it was with a fat pencil, pen, crayon, or a piece of chalk. When I was in my teens my dad bought my brother and I an old refurbished typewriter so we could type our papers for school. How far we have come in typing from those day to the place where today any smart phone owner can publish his or her thoughts instantly around the world.

I want to be one spreading the encouraging word for there are already enough of the not so encouraging words out there, that and people try to sell you something or get power over you.

What’s wrong with that you say? Well, let’s just say that if what you have to say is about obtaining profit or power over others your motivation might be questionable. Songstress Tina Turner wrote a rather pessimistic rock anthem later in her career called “What’s Love Got To Do with It?” I think that is the real question that we should be asking when we hear or read anything. If the motivation behind those words is anything more or less in the words of one “We are no more than a tinkling symbol or sounding gong” – just background noise.

Listen, for that still small voice that has but one refrain, “I love you, I always have, and always will.”

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David White
