Maintaining Friendships
I recall an ABC 20/20 segment around the turn of the century regarding how there had been a large increase in people living over a hundred and even into their second set of teens. When asked what was the secret of living such a long life the general consensus was – the importance of maintaining friendships. One gentleman already one hundred and twelve was still playing jazz on the trumpet to entertain his friends and said the secret to living long and prospering was to continually be making new and younger friends and to make the effort to maintain those friendships.
True friends are not after your money, but they do require your time and attention, yet few investments reaps such great benefits for the both you and your friends. And I am not taking about “friends with benefits” but hey what’s wrong with that I’d like to know? That sounds like a good song lyric.
Besides a long and happy life, friends bring out the highest and best in us. They hold a mirror up to us so that we can see the best in ourselves and improve our appearance. They make us smile. As Little Orphan Annie sang, “You’re never fully dressed without a smile.”
Call a friend today and get caught up on one another’s lives. Live, love, and laugh with friends. It does not get any better than this.
