On The Road Again

I have been retired a little over two years and spent the greater part of the last ten years of my working career dragging a little pull behind travel trailer to various contract inspector jobs around the country. Most of those assignments were in places that I had never been and will perhaps never see again.

I thoroughly enjoyed my travels and even hoped that after retirement that my wife who had come to visit me on most of this assignments and I might spend a great deal of our time in camp grounds around the country seeing places we have never been and might never see again.

Alas we only made one road trip and that without a camper from Houston to South Carolina and back to bring her sweet mom back to Texas with us where she stayed week days with us and weekends with Linda’s sister red headed Sarah in nearby Spring, Texas. Even those plans were dashed when Linda had a great change in behavior after a bout with shingles. She has never been quite the same and I have had to put all travel plans on hold. After two week long stays in two different hospital where she went through all their testing protocols and a two week stay in a behavioral hospital I am convinced that the best place for Linda is in her own home surrounded by familiar things and with her loving and adoring husband her by her side. Any travel plans I might have had are temporarily on hold.

If as I expect I will out live my lovely and loving wife and if I still have my health and presence of mind I will resume my life on the road again someday. Yesterday I spent half the day with my son Jay seeing a sixty acre piece of property that he recently purchase near Newton, Texas about a hundred and fifty miles north east of Houston. Jay plans to have RV connect installed on his place and I hope to use one of those to keep a little camper trailer when I am not dragging it across the country seeing places that I have perhaps never been and may never see again.

I conclude this blog with the core belief that I build my life around:

“I am so glad and grateful that everything that I could ever want or need is already mine and coming to me at just the right time and in just the right way from my loving and infinite source.”
