Home To Stay
Today’s song says, “You couldn’t live a life of maybe’s and what if’s.” The Apostle Paul’s famous love chapter, I Corinthians Chapter 13, begins: “Love is patient, love is kind.” I paraphrase – love is never in a hurry to have its own way – love waits. I have often wondered if I had not pressured my first wife to marry before I left for Vietnam, but waited that year till I returned if our marriage might have had a better chance. The line from the movie Pay It Forward comes to mind, “Woulda, coulda, shoulda, Pal.” I have often blamed her for not waiting for me, but perhaps I am equally guilty for not waiting for her. We were both so very young.
Alas that was not my first nor my only mistake in love.
Another great New Testament quote goes, “Experience worketh patience.” Granted the actual meaning of the word translated patience here probably would be better translated endurance.” But even if we extend that to Paul’s introduction to his love chapter we get, “Love is enduring, love is kind.” True love waits, true love lasts.
Today’s Josh Groban song is one of my favorite love songs. Home is where the heart is. Tomorrow I have another favorite love song for you, entitled simply Home.
Thought it took me almost forty years to find her I finally found the woman who loves me so much that even after ten years of my working away on the road she was waiting for me to come home to stay. Thank you Linda Lee Stokes-White for loving me and allowing me to pursue my dreams letting me love you back the best way I know how.. Two years retired from traveling and am still so glad and grateful to be home with you.
