All I Ask Of You

The original three Christmas gifts are thought to be gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Expensive tokens of love, but the true Christmas gift like the famous Hallmark greeting card slogan “When you care enough to send the very best” is giving ourself to others. “For God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son…”

Another New Testament verse says “Owe no one anything but to love one another.” My dad used to say that Christmas was for children, yet I believe we are all children and that what we want most for Christmas and every day is to be loved.

In the beloved Christmas song The Little Drummer Boy, the little boy offers the baby Jesus the only gift he has, he plays his drum for him. This Christmas Eve I offer my “gift” to all who read this little blog today and to all those who might read it tomorrow or another day.
