I Kissed The Baby!

New babies are exciting and special in the life of any family. New mommies and daddies, grandmas and grandpas, aunts and uncles, sisters and brothers, and cousins are all thrilled at their new or renewed titles and everyone and everything is focused on the new member of the family, the new baby. Oh, there are adjustments to be made for sure to make room for the new arrival, but they are small and we find even our hearts and minds enlarge to make room for the new member of our ever growing family and even new grand and great titles are bestowed i.e. grand and great grandmas, grand and great grandpas, etc.

There is a new baby in my life. My son and his wife are a new mom and dad. My wife and I are new grandma and grandpa as are the new mom’s parents. My wife’s sisters and brothers are aunts and uncles again. My one and only brother is finally an uncle and my wife’s mother is a great grandmother again.

Only a few have had the privilege yet to kiss the baby so far. My wife and I got to hold her on her first week birthday last Saturday. Emma is still so tiny about the size of the American Girl Bitty Baby we bought for her before she was born. That will be one of her first Christmas presents for her first Christmas and this grandpa will put on his Santa suit to present it to her as I did gifts for her daddy and her Aunt Em many years ago.

Emma Grace already has a line of family members waiting for a chance to kiss the baby.

And Santa and I are patiently awaiting our turn.
