Little Red Riding Hood

It is a classic tale once well understood as a warning against wolves in sheep’s clothing or pretending to be caring grandmas. Wolves and bad players prey on the innocent and naive. Con-men still prey today and are ever looking to score an easy mark. It does not say much for our society how easily we seem to be hoodwinked by tricksters.

One of our wisest and best Presidents arrived on the scene in a time very similar to today’s. We were then as we are now a sharply divided country. He is remembered for his wisdom and perseverance in holding us together as a nation. He said:

There is a way to always know the truth. It has a ring to it, but you have to listen with you heart, mind, ears, and eyes open to hear it. Another wise person once wrote, “You will hear a voice saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it.” That still small voice is always speaking truth to those who would not be fooled by the big ears, big noses, big eyes, and big mouths of wolves in disguise. Isn’t that right, Little Red?
