I Planted A Seed
I planted a seed
Hoped it would grow
But whether it would
I didn’t really know.
I planted in the sun
Prayed it would rain
For days held vigil
Came again & again.
Soon I wearied watching
Other interests prevailed
That little seed took root
The sun & rain never failed.
I planted a seed
A difference I made
Others who followed
Repose in the shade.
The proud, the profiteers, and the powerful seem most concerned with their legacy, what people will say of their great deeds and accomplishments after they have passed. The wise in all their doings and musings know that even the simple and humble hope also to leave something of themselves behind.
Instead of sowing fear, hate, and division which grow like wildfire and consume and destroy not only the trees, but the whole environment, let us sow seeds of love, joy, peace, kindness, and understanding so that generations as yet unborn will remember that we left something truly worthwhile behind.
