Angels Among Us

“Many have entertained angels unaware.” and “He makes his angels ministering spirits.” Are two Bible verses that fascinate people who believe in angels. Yesterday, I looked up into the sky and thought I saw an angel in a lovely cloud formation. Can you see her?

My eyes are always open to all the Universe has for me, as is my heart, my mind, my mouth, and my nose. My ears too and my arms and my hands are open. Shakespeare once had one of his characters say to a closed-minded friend, “There are worlds not dreamt of in your philosophy.” Our possibilities are only limited by what we allow.

For a few brief moments yesterday I remembered the words of pastor I met as a young man. He used them at the end of most if not all of his talks. He would smile and say, “Keep looking up.” I looked up and saw above the leafless trees an angel in the clouds and that vision made my day. One more Bible verse, one that Satan quoted to Jesus tempting him: “He gives his angels charge over you to lift you up lest you dash your foot against a stone.” Surely Satan as well as anyone knows how to quote Bible verses and to misconstrue there meanings. We everyone of us including Jesus have stubbed our toes on many occasions but, when we have needed them most there have always been angels watching over us to be an ever present help in time of trouble.
