1854 Meet Kirsten, Chapter 4

1854 Meet Kirsten, Chapter 4

In this dreamscape that we call life anything can happen. Look to your dreams to know that you can indeed experience anything in life that you choose.

Recently my wife Linda and I shared a favorite movie with our mom, Angels In The Outfield, the nineteen-ninety-four version with Christopher Lloyd playing the head Angel and Danny Glover playing the California Angels’ baseball team team manger. It is the story of a foster boy, Roger, whose dead beat dad when asked by Roger, “When are we going to get to be a family again says, “From where I am sitting, when the Angels win the pennant.” That night Roger makes an impassioned prayer request that if there is a God, that he or she will send angels to help his favorite team rise from last place at mid-season to capture the title so that he can be part of a family again. Roger concludes his prayer with “Amen” and as an after thought adds “Ah Women” just in case. His best buddy at the foster care facility is a younger boy called J.P. and anytime either one of them shares a dream, J.P. says, “It could happen.”

Roger’s prayer is indeed answered, but only he can see the winged Angels helping the on-field Angels to play their very best and sometimes miraculously better. Not even J.P. can see the heavenly helpers. I won’t spoil the movie for you by sharing too many details. Check it out for yourself. My advice to one and all, as my friend Mike Dooley always says is: Remember that, “Thoughts become things, choose the good ones” and dream big, not worrying about “the cursed how’s.” The God of this Universe has a way of always working things out for our highest and the best. As J.P. put it, “It can happen.”

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David White
