The Wonderful Wizard of Oz – Chapter 4
In this chapter of our story we met the Tin Woodsman who like the Scarecrow needs Dorothy to rescue him first before he can later rescue her. It seems the Tin Man was chopping wood sometime ago when a quick arriving rain storm rusted him up tight before he could get to his oil can. Realizing his predicament fast thinking Dorothy finds his oil can and with just a few well aimed squirts has him moving freely again and now all three are off to see the Wizard.
Often while leaving the house to run this or that errand or sometimes even to just work in the yard I will by way of describing my intentions just simply say, “I am off to see the Wizard.” Life is to me a journey through space and time and as I heard a priest say to Sandra Bullock in the movie Premonition, “What you need to be happy in life is faith in something bigger and outside yourself.” She replied that she had lost her faith in God. He said, “What about Hope, what about Love.” Whatever name you choose, I believe their is a higher power even if it is only our higher, best self that guides, provides, and protects us – a Wonderful Wizard with just what we think we are lacking.
Dorothy thought she needed help getting home, the Scarecrow a brain, now the Tin Man a heart, and tomorrow we will meet a king who fears he has no courage. I hope you will stick around as Dorothy and gang journey to Oz to meet the Wonderful Wizard.
Your friend and fellow traveler,
David White
