Rumpelstiltskin

Here is yet another version of the classic tale, a two-minute one, of the little guy who granted wishes for a price. Isn’t that what ego always proposes that we give up our greatest treasures and sell our souls for some quick way out of our troubles or some shiny dream we are impatient on the Universe to deliver at just the right time and in just the right way.

No loving would be parent would ever put their child up as collateral for any loan or favor. But then that is the meat of the story. A young farm girl because of a bragging father finds herself in an impossible situation with no other way out than to promise away her future child.

Be sure to read to the end for there is as in most fairytales a happy ending. Which brings me to the point of this blog. Do you believe in happy endings? Have so many seeming broken promises and bad breaks soured you completely on life? Do you no longer believe in a benevolent Universe? Can you even recall the last time you believed it would turn out alright in the end?

Cheer up, your story, our story isn’t over yet. The way we always know it is not the end of the story yet is because the final scene was written long long ago and like all the best stories end ours is a “Happily ever after” tale. Not happy in this moment, you will be, just hang on.

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David White
