Every Now And Again

Every now and again there is a spike in the readership of my blog and I am encouraged. Imagine that, the encouraging word guy being encouraged. It does though and strengthens my resolve to stay at it and to stretch, dig a little deeper, to find that encouraging word to offer up to you my friends each day to hopefully help just a little to encourage you to to stay at it and to remember why you chose to be born into this kingdom for just such a time as this. That last line I borrowed from a story about a beautiful young Jewish Girl. I imagine that she must have looked like the ever lovely and funny Sarah Silverman or the young and ever so attractive actress Elizabeth Taylor in the movie Ivanhoe with long-time handsome leading man Robert Taylor.

The line comes from the book of Esther in the Jewish Bible that the Christians call the Old Testament. In the story Esther finds out that her physical beauty, place, and timing were all planned to save her people. But who made that plan? Well, the Big Guy/Girl of course but I am convinced Esther, her higher self at least, had a hand in that design too as do even I and you in this adventure we call life.

In his book, Infinite Possibilities – The Art Of Living Your Dreams, one of my heroes Mike Dooley writes:

I have read a lot of Mike’s take on life and have been a long time recipient of his daily Notes From The Universe emails. Mike believes and preaches that “Thoughts become things, pick the good ones” and I believe that as well. We create the world around us by our thoughts, words, and deeds. Words and deeds are the materialization of our thoughts and those of others. We need not buy in to others thoughts or even our own but when we do, presto, change oh, like magic appear the things we thought. Oh, it often takes a little time but as I say and often, “ I am so glad and grateful that everything I could ever want or need is already mine and coming to me at just the right time and in just the right way from my loving and infinite source.” But who or what is that infinite source? I thought you would never ask. The answer is plain and simple and I will not keep you waiting – the Universe, He/She/You/Me/We. God is all in when we are all in this wonderful adventure in space and time to have the time of our lives.

The lead in to the old TV sci-fi series, The Outer Limits, was just perfect for a boyhood TV addict as I was and still am. It showed the old TV test pattern and old style TV adjustments being made with the voice over:

“There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur, or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly, and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to… The Outer Limits.”

Just one of the multitude of clues as to what is really going on here and to Who is really in control of it all. The road to mental, physical, and spiritual health and well-being is always through the door of accepting personal responsibility for our life and choices. There are infinite possibilities and our higher selves knowing that chose this time, this place, this body, in which to experience the adventure of a lifetime. The only advice I have to offer anyone on the this big beautiful spinning ball magical mystery tour (Beatles) is, “Have a ball, you all.” The “you all” is a southern boy thing, which I chose to play this go round.

Your friend and fellow traveler,

    1. I figured that would catch your eye and attention, you beloved Aussie you. How much we miss not listening to the first people, here, there, and everywhere. They learned long ago to listen to the trees, rocks, hills, and streams all echoing that still small voice within.
