A Simple But Elegant Solution, 173

The answer to a particular question that many struggle with throughout a lifetime, if not many lifetimes, has a simple but elegant solution, explanation, answer. I start off by beating about the bush a bit, the burning bush that caught self-exiled Moses’s attention. Fire in a desert place with few if any bushes and a bush that burns and is still not consumed would get most anyone’s undivided attention. God is that burning bush that fire cannot consume. But who is God?

Moses asked a version of that question after hearing the Impossible Mission line, “And your mission, Moses, if you decide to accept it, is to go to Pharaoh and tell him God says, ‘Let my people go.’” Moses asked, “Who shall I say is sending me.” And the God of the burning bush said, “ Tell him “I am.” That is but one of God’s many names. Who is God? Ask that question five times. Then supply God’s answer to Moses as you ask it five more times – “ I am.”

Who is God? I am.

Who is God? I am.

Who is God? I am.

Who is God? I am.

Who is God? I am.

Now change it up a bit and say five times, fast.

Who am I, God?

Who am I, God?

Who am I, God?

Who am I, God?

Who am I, God?

His, Hers, Yours, My, not so secret identity has been there under our noses all along. That is blasphemy you say. Really? Can God blaspheme God? Shall the pot say to the potter why did you make me thus?

The council of fifty elders set up by Moses at the advice of his father-in-law, Jethro, not God, many years later arrested one of God’s sons at night and interrogated him in an illegal proceeding and when they asked him the pressing question out right his answer pissed them off so bad they knew that they would have to figure a way to force the Roman’s, the real power in Judea in those days, to crucify him. Jesus answer when they asked if he was the son of God was simple and elegant. He used God’s name. He answered, “I am.” And he was, and he is. We all are, everyone and everything thing is God’s. Hence my favorite verse in all the Bible – “God is all in all.” If we hate anyone or anything, even ourselves, we are hating God. Likewise if we love anyone or anything, especially ourselves, we are loving God.

In case you missed the simple and elegant solution, explanation, answer, I repeat.

Who is God? I am.

Who am I – God?

Who is God? I am.

Who am I – God?

Who is God? I am.

Punctuation aside, it is most always an after thought anyway. What is God’s name? “I am.” Then who is God? Anyone who can answer, “I am.”

Namaste means, “ I bow to the divinity in you.” I must also bow to the divinity in myself as well as in all things that I see, smell, taste, and touch. One Seven Three, my goal weight that I hope to reach by my 69th, or sexy birthday, this November 22, and I plan maintain it the rest of this journey if for no other than that it will remind me always to see God in everyone, everything, including myself. 173 means. “I Worship You.”

Your friend, fellow traveler,

And fellow deity,

David White

Who do you think you are? God? Of course, you are. How about another game of ski-ball. A little Dogma, the movie, humor. Okay, best out of three gazillion then.

Footnote: My mother took her own life nineteen years ago before her 69th birthday. I intend to stick around as many days longer as I can. I do not think my mother knew who she was. Having awakened to that knowledge as Jesus did, I realize this is the fun part and I would not miss a minute of it for the world. Next time someone says or even abbreviates Oh, My God (OMG) just simply and elegantly say, “Yes, may I help you?”
