“If”

Such a beautiful song. Makes me wish I could be in two places at one of time always with you and the other playing the guitar I have yet to learn to play and singing my mockingbird songs. But that I get to do for everyone who will listen but also for you.

David Gates (of Bread) performs “If” (Live in 1975)

“If” is such a big word. Rudyard Kipling wrote a poem called “If” let me try to write another. All there is to be said has still not been writ or said about the little word “If.”

“If I could be two places at one time I’d be with you.”

A part of you I am

Though all be damned

It would nevertheless be true

I am a part of you.

A part of you I am

And you a part of me

Redundant really “We”

To see you is to see me.

“If” it is a big word

If we could only see

You’d know that I am you

And I that you are me.

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David White
