We Hung The Moon

Beautiful! “I made it,
Created all with you,
Also hung the moon
A great job of it too.”

Several years ago I was writing a little birthday greetings for a dear and loved cousin (I love all my cousins and down South everyone is a cousin), Glenn White, and striving to let him know how very much that he has meant to me all of my life. I wrote him that I thought he hung the moon and did a fine job of it too. Since then I have used that expression with several others and have come to believe that it rings true because it is true. The Bible says (Oh, no Crazy Dave is quoting the Bible again – I quote song and movie lyrics too, even fortune cookies and bubble gum wrappers, anything to illustrate a point.) Man, that was a long parenthetical phrase. If I have not already lost you, the Bible quote is: “God was in Christ (the Annointed) reconciling the world to himself.” We are all the Annointed and were ourselves in God creating all that is – co-creators as it were i.e. we did indeed help hang the moon and all the stars, we are the moon and the stars in the Universe. And if you think that I am being poetic, that is what poets do, I believe these words to be true: “You hung the moon and did a pretty fine job too.”

I suppose that I believe that it is my mission in this life, I mean now that I know Who and Whose that I truly am, to remind each and every one of you Who and Whose that you are. You are a star, we all are. You hung the moon, we all did. And it is time we quit “Oh poor me mouthing”, complaining, and got about our Father/Mother’s business, which is, yep, you guessed it, “reconciling the world to himself/herself/ourself.” I hit upon the crux of the matter in that last little effort to describe a bigger more encompassing idea of God than many of us are used to. God after all according to the Good Book, again, is: “All in all.” That means everyone, everything, every where, and all at the same time. Which is why I think The Universe is a more descriptive name for deity than god, spelled dog backwards. Dogs are pretty cool too. Look into those expressive eyes and you can see it, yeah, God again.

But I ramble and repeat myself. Poets often do that. The point is like every true love song ever sung nobody or better yet everybody loves you like God loves you and agrees, “You hung the moon and did a fine job of it too.”

Your friend and fellow traveler,
dog lover, and fellow moon hanger,
David White
