Raining Frogs And Other Things

Many of us have as children seen it rain so hard that it looked like it was raining little frogs. Google “raining frogs” and you will find a scientific explanation of how water spouts can pick up frogs and even fish and deposit them many miles away in rain storms.” I am reminded of that Shakespeare line I quote often about there being worlds that are not dreamt of in our philosophy or understanding. Children do not need a big explanation they just see little frogs hopping in the rain and exclaim, “It’s raining frogs.”

Some years ago there was a famous Disco song with the line sung buy thrilled women that said, “It’s raining men, hallelujah.” It is an expression most of us have used when there seems to be an abundance of what we want, “It is raining (fill in the blank.) And, yes, when we feel such a sweet abundance we too might add an “Amen” or “Hallelujah.” And why not for is it not written that He causes His blessings like rain to fall on the just and the unjust.

Whether it be frogs, Children; or men, Ladies; or women, Gentlemen; or whatever or whomever we prefer – like Morton Salt, “When it rains it pours.” Who among us does not appreciated a good downpour of what we have been wishing and hoping for? For all the bad talk that rain gets from time to time, after a drought or even a dry dusty day many of us can sing with the Blues song, “I wish it would rain.”

As I told someone that I love very much who has had more than her share of rainy days, when it starts raining beagles and tabby cats you might want to stay inside and curl up with a good book. Or if you are looking for a skewed point of view or perhaps an encouraging word I suggest that you scroll back through the blogs of one of my favorite authors and relax and enjoy the rainy day. http://www.theencouragingword.co has lots of rainy day material for your rainy day reading pleasure.
