Thinking With God

One of my favorite verses in the New Testament says, “Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ.” I think the title of my blog today is really saying the same thing. Sometimes it is if we had two minds, the ego and God pulling us in two very different directions. The ego is not real of course only God is but why does this imaginary voice always sound so loud and persuasive? Because we have chosen to believe we are something that we are not – A body separate with a mind and will of our own. We believe this body is for attack when it is only a communication device and we make our bodies sick trying to attack our brothers and even God. What foolishness is this when our only true being, our only true purpose, our only true life is to think with God, our higher self, and to use our body to communicate love to our brothers.

A couple of days ago I listed some of puny ego’s thoughts. Today I would share some of God’s thinking:

I am…
Able,
Strong enough,
Smart enough,
Big enough,
Brave enough,
To do anything
And everything my heart and hands find to do.
Nothing, NO THING, shall be impossible to me.

Thinking like God, with God, undoes debilitating addictions, restores health, fills us with hope and courage where once were only dispair and fear. Dave, did you figure all that out yourself? No, I did not. We don’t have to, we only need to spend a few moments each day thinking with God. I am not talking about memorizing Bible verses or prayers or reciting mantras. I am talking about opening up our mind which is and always was His mind and allowing our higher self, God Himself, to do a little real thinking.

I am reading an interesting autobiography by Mary Crowley, the founder of Home Interiors. The title of the book is You Can Too. The original title was Think Mink which was an idea Mary thought up to motivate her direct sales staff of women to think the best and have the best always as their goal. It is evident that Mary’s great success in business did not come from Mary thinking by herself. Mary thought with God. Something we could all do more of.
