I Enjoy Gathering With Light-Hearted People

Four Thanksgivings ago I had the privilege of celebrating Thanksgiving that also fell on my birthday that year with friends in Colorado Springs, Colorado. My traveling life affords me lots of interesting and fun opportunities to meet new friends and reconnect with old ones. The picture of that dinner posted with this blog reminded me of Number Ten of my rules to live by called Ten Intentions For A Better World or simply The Code:

  “The Tenth Intent – Synergize

“I see Humanity as One. I enjoy gathering with light-hearted        people regularly. When we come together we set the stage for Great Oneness to reveal Itself. We synergize.”

It is fun to spend time with light-hearted people. They bring out the best and brightest in us, the most loving and lightest in us. Did you ever notice the two ways we use the term light? We use it mostly to refer to illumination but we also use it to refer to weight or the lack of it. The movie title, “The Incredible Lightness Of Being” comes to mind. Being around light-hearted people not only illuminates but it also reminds us to let go our burdens, the cares, and concerns that weigh us down. The term gravity is a grave situation and too much weight will lead to an early grave and I am not talking about the physical so much as the spiritual or mental weight. Children at play is how we should be together, enjoying this wonderful playground. And laying aside every weight we should run, and skip, and fly. “Every time a bell rings, another angel gets its wings.” Ring that bell. Another song lyric comes to mind from Elton John’s Circle of Life, “Some of us soar through our troubles. Some of us live with the scars.” To children scars are like badges of courage. These bodies are only on loan to us, like rental cars, do you really worry about turning yours in with a few dents and scratches. There will be no penalties to pay or bonuses given for not putting some wear and tear on the vehicle.

Floating and soaring are the marks of light-heartedness and yes this is where Great Oneness reveals Itself most clearly. Many have a sober and heavy take on the Holidays, Holy Days they call them. I thing they miss the point. The only real sense of the term holy to me is wholly and a life lived complete and full. And that life my friend is a party all the time for them that choose. When the prodigal son came home they partied. When loved ones die we should party, celebrating their life, wishing them Bon Voyage to a new and better life. Holidays to many bring back sad memories, heavy memories of the loved and lost. Nothing and no one who is loved is ever lost. Holidays are to remind us to be grateful and celebrate together whether that is raising a glass together, smoking a peace pipe together, shaking our booties together, or singing our hearts out together. Enjoy the holidays and keep your heart light. Be ready to fly at a moment’s notice. For as sure as you were born flight arrangements have been made for a higher happier country and you won’t even need to carry even the lightest piece of baggage with you on that trip.

Your friend and fellow traveler,
David White
