What Was Bugging Old Pharaoh?

Blog 454 – 11.03.2016

In the 1960’s, Charles Schultz of Peanuts fame released a book for teenagers by today’s title. It was intended to be hip and relate to teenagers.  What was bugging old Pharaoh is what is bugging us all of every age and that is being caught in the middle. The Bible says, “The double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” Truer words were never writ nor spoken.

The natural mind which is actually the unnatural mind is ego. The higher mind is the spirit directing us to think and act according to our higher nature which is love.  It is no good trying to fight the devil, ego, satan for he is man’s creature brought into being and kept alive to support our belief in separation. We are not separate but as long as we think we are we need ego to support us in that error. So much of our problems, with ourself, others, and with life in general is what I call an identity crisis. We do not know who and whose we really are. The spirit in us does but through our invented ego we try desperately to deny it.

When it does start to dawn on us who we really are life just begins to get better and better. The bug old Pharaoh had in his bonnet that caused him to act out in such a terrible way was the idea of personal grandeur or grandizement which are both real signs that you think yourself really inferior. Ego is inferior but you are not. You have been imbued from birth with glory. Grandeur is a pale immitation of glory and unworthy of a child of the Universe. Pharaoh knows better now but do we? A sure sign you are in your right mind is happiness. Follow your happy thoughts and do not buy into ego’s miserable imitation of life.
