From time to time I get emails from a guy named Bernie (Not Bernie Sanders) explaining some of the mysteries of life, the Law of Attraction in particular. Simply put the before mentioned law states that what comes to us is attracted to us by some vibe we are sending out. I know, all very New Age and different from the “everything is either Good or Bad” philosophy most of us were fed from a child. Hear me out or don’t that is up to you.

Bernie’s predecessor I met on line, well sort of, after watching The Secret and being challenged by this Law of Attraction philosophy. I got an email offer of a Beyond The Secret paper for the small price of $39.99. I have wasted a lot more on a lot less so I thought, “What the heaven I’ll give it a try.” So I received this electronic copy about 35 pages in length written by a quantum physicist. He immediately stated that for The Law of Attraction to work for you that you had to believe in a higher power. Twelve Step programs like Alcoholics Anonymous and even the Free Masons have that requirement. That was a problem for me for at that time I had been an atheist for about twenty years but the quantum physicist disarmed me at once by writing, “But if God is a problem for you just think of Him/Her as your higher self.” I remember saying out loud, “I can do that.”So I learned a little more about the Law of Attraction which seems to fit quite well with what became my personal mantra, “I am so grateful that everything I could ever want or need is already mine and coming to me at just the right time and in just the right way from my loving and infinite source.”

I continued to get emails with positive information about how to better make use of the Law of Attraction for several years then my quantum physicist friend wrote that he was handing me off to Bernie and Bernie too began sharing a lot more cool stuff by email. A few days ago Bernie emailed regarding why some of our intentions/desires seem to come to us quicker than others and mean more to us when they do. He went on to say that intentions/desires regarding doing come to us faster than those about having. Did you ever notice that when you get (have) something even if you have wanted and waited for it a long time that it seems to lose its shine pretty quick after you get it. But that things we have wanted and waited a while to do stay in our memory and give us pleasure for a long time. I call this The Pleasure Principle. What gives us pleasure doing not only turn us on but turn the Universe on too –  to grant our requests and to satisfy our wants. Two texts come to mind. “The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.” and “Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

My Higher Self and yours always wants the best for me and for you and is more willing to grant our requests (our intentions and our desires) and doing is better than having. And yet I show you a more excellent way to get everything you want and do everything you want to do and that as the Eastern folks have concluded is being. If you truly know Who and Whose you are you know that everything is yours already. Happy, having, doing, and being.
