One Year In

Blog 267 – 04.06.2016

Exactly one year ago today I wrote my first daily blog on:
theencouragingword.co
In the past year I have posted 267 articles only a few of which were repeats of previous blogs. I have enjoyed every moment, the writing, the editing, the reading and trying to find all my mistakes. I still miss a few. I heard on Public Radio that compulsive correcting of others’ grammar, spelling, and punctuation is a sign of mental problems. But then I think we are all sick puppies. So correct me if you must but if you understand what I meant to say it is okay to just, “Let it go.”

I have dreamed of being a writer for over fifty years and thanks to you, Dear Readers, I am realizing that dream. Each article I write is a sincere attempt to share something of myself that is entertaining, thought provoking, and encouraging. When I was a young boy in church an older fellow who lived just across the street from the church used to like to sing a particular solo before the sermon. He sang it so many times I can still remember the most important line: “If I can help somebody along life’s way then my living shall not be in vain.”

If you never write a best selling book, start a blog, or win a famous award, if you but “brighten the corner where you are” you will have helped a lot. And that is worth more than fame or a starry crown in my book.

I have written a couple of books and if I live, I hope to write more and see them published someday. As my blog following grows someday I hope to have enough interested readers to do just that. I look forward to your comments and suggestions even grammar, spelling and punctuation corrections, you mental folk, and even snide remarks from those my skewed view opinions ruffle from time to time. Agree or disagree I hope you will come to believe my sign off. That I am truly
Your friend and fellow traveler,
David White
