Blog 200 – 01.05.2016
This is the time of year many people give a lot of thought to changes they’d like to see take place in their lives. We also have a tendency to examine some of our old dreams and wonder why they have not come true yet. Today is a dream come true for me as I publish blog number 200. I hope some of you reading this blog will look back at some or all of the first 200 and find several encouraging words.
I believe like the starring robot in the Will Smith movie I Robot that our creator gave us dreams to make us unique, to urge us along our journey, to show us Who and Whose we truly are. A friend has warned me that I might “get my throat cut” for some of the things I write but honestly I am not trying to tell anyone what or how to think. I am only sharing what comes to me with the hope it may encourage someone else to dream bigger dreams and to not just follow those dreams but chase them.
I think we misunderstand the real purpose of our emotions. Emotions show us where we are, where we are coming from and where we want to be. Many people drink alcohol and do drugs to chemically try to achieve the highest emotional level. I do not believe there is a magic pill or drink that can do that for you. I think we are responsible for our emotions and that telling someone else, “You made me sad, glad, or feel bad is really a very childish way to view yourself and others.
The reason our dreams don’t come true is that we do not invest the right emotions into them. The Universe is in some ways like a bank you can only get out what you put in to it. But unlike a bank we are not talking about silver or gold or their paper equivalents, stocks, bonds, cash. What we deposit in The Bank of the Universe is our dreams, our desires, our hopes and our wishes. If we make those deposits with excitement, expectation, and gratitude we receive what we ask for believing with a higher rate of return than any bank on earth can offer.
But if we deposit our dreams half heartedly or begrudgingly, not really expecting them to come true we get back what we put in to it. How is your dream account? Is it mostly dust and disappointment? Dust off those dreams, wipe that sour grapes look off you face, turn on that thousand watt smile of yours, and don’t just wait for a dream to pass by so you can follow your dreams, but chase them. Pick yourself up and get back in the race. 2016 just might be the year your biggest and best dreams come true. That is my New Years wish for you. It’s up to you to make it come true.
Your friend and fellow traveler,
David White
