What Comes Next?

I loved to sing as a boy and young man. I did most of my singing in church. But for the last several years I have done a lot of singing in bars. I enjoy singing Karaoke and think I might have been a lounge singer in a passed life or maybe the next one, or perhaps this one if I have enough time. I do not drink except on rare occasions and then only to remind myself that I can. I ran as fast and far as I could from a religion full of rules that those who seemed to shout the loudest broke as often as the rest of us. They taught against bars, movies, dancing and well just about anything fun. They were against it. What a sad and miserable company they were most of the time. I hope everyone of them is on a happier road. I am and singing Karaoke is one of the things I do to lift my spirit and hopefully those of my listeners too.

The last song I sang was The Dance as recorded by Garth Brooks. It is a wonderful song with a great message that life is often better than we could plan because Chance, though I prefer to call it My Higher Self, has a better plan than the best little me could design.

“And my life
Is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I might have missed
The Dance.”

As at least one answer to the question that the title of this piece poses, I will offer: “More of the same only bigger and better.” There is a line in one of my favorite songs that says, “We’re in an evolution I have heard it said. Everyone’s so busy now but do we move ahead. Planets hurling and atoms splitting and a sweater for your love you sit there knitting.”

It is at least possible that our spirits are on a progress course life after life till we reach some kind of mastery and become ascended masters ready to fill some kind of teaching role in the progression of others. I for one would like to get it right this time and move on to a bigger, better, and brighter existence. Don’t get me wrong. I have had a ball and each day is full of greater opportunities to grow and be of service. I particularly like this encouraging word guy role I have carved out for myself and envision reaching many more folks who could use a morning pick me up.

Whether I am singing, writing. or speaking it is all practice for my next job of being a teacher. The saying goes “when the student is ready the Master (the Teacher) will appear.” We are all of us training for a greater role in the cosmic order of things – student/teachers all of us. So what comes next? Why, Halloween, Thanksgiving break, and Christmas vacation of course. Have fun, dear ones.

Your friend, fellow traveler, and Master-in-training,
