Blog 134 – 10.8.15

I had dinner with a friend a few days ago and he remarked after dinner when we were both giving the waitress our credit cards that we both had identical new credit cards with the new chip and that we would need to check to make sure she gave each of us back the correct card. Great advise which neither of us heeded.

Yesterday I called a storage facility in Loveland, Colorado to update my credit card information with them. I have a 1960 Willys Jeep and car hauler trailer stored there and they auto-debit the storage fee to my card each month. Since my card had expired they needed the new expiration date. As I was giving the man the new information over the phone I realized my card number had changed but I just gave him the new number and really didn’t look at the card further till I hung up.

After I was off the phone I looked at the card closer and realized that I had my friend’s card. It had been in my wallet all weekend. I immediately call the storage company back asked them to disregard those numbers and that I would call with the correct numbers as soon as I got my card back.

Last night I had dinner again with my friend and we traded cards but not without some fun with each other about all the purchases we had made on the other’s card. He talked about his new 80″ Flat Screen TV and new patio furniture and I said I could hardly wait to take him for a ride in my new, new truck. We laughed and laughed. I don’t think either of us had even used the cards. But if I thought my friend really wanted a new TV or patio furniture I’d love to put it on my card.

Most all of us have been the victim of credit card fraud. Those interest rates alone are crime enough. But I thought you might get a chuckle at two crazy guys who spent two dinners together and a weekend of credit card fraud, well at least in our minds. Wow, two new trucks in just a few months. I really am a rich guy, rich with friends.
