Blog 46 – 6.9.15
We have all heard and used the expression, “I just can’t find the time.” But like the Great Lie about there being a Shortage of resources that drives us to hoard, to stockpile, to live in fear it is equally true we have plenty of time to do all the things we really want to do. In the past couple of months I have written forty five articles averaging about five hundred words each for my daily blog and one might wonder where does he find the time.
Someone has explained in a humorous way, How To Eat An Elephant. It is really easy as is any big formidable task. The answer is the same, “One bite at a time.” Some years ago a man had the ideas of writing a transliteration (which means not a literal translation, word for word, but a rephrasing in your own words) of the Bible for his children. He was a businessman. A very busy businessman but he commuted into the city each day by train and decided he would use those few minutes to and from work to accomplish this mammoth task. He started with Mark, the shortest of the Gospels in the New Testament. One by one he did all the books of the New Testament and then the Old Testament. Several of the books ended up being published separately and then all of them as The Children’s Bible. More widely it became known as The Living Bible. Though not a true translation it is a wonderful work, the result of one man’s finding the time to write down his thoughts and share them with his children and then the world.
His determination to use little pieces of his time as he found them was an inspiration to me to take the few minutes I sit waiting each day to put my thoughts down and share with anyone who cares to read them. Grant you, I don’t have a large following as yet but I believe the Universe will provide that even as I continue to think of different and varied things to write. I quoted Jimmy Durante in an earlier blog who said, “Ha cha cha cha, I got a million of them.” Well, actually my goal is 10,000 but big as that may seem, Ten Thousand Blogs, I know I’ll find the time because I want to do it. And do it I shall, one bite or word at a time.
Your Fellow Traveler, using my waiting time to write.
