Homesick
One of my favorite songs by Randy Newman is the song Feels Like Home in which he sings:

A couple of months before she died my daughter Emily gave a private concert for my brother Robert and his long time companion and husband Edwin at their weekend retreat home near Jamestown, Tennessee. Accompanying herself on her trusty guitar Blondie and ukulele Goldie she sang several songs. Randy’s song was one of them. The boys were so impressed with her performance that they called their near neighbors Ron and Doyle who came down right away with their weekend guests to hear Emily repeat that wonderful concert. Here is my karaoke version of Feels Like Home To Me. My voice is not nearly as rich and resonant as Emily’s sweet voice.

Feels Like Home To Me
A few weeks ago Emily’s Uncle Dahl also died, almost fourteen years after Emily had already exited this stage for, I believe, a bigger, better, brighter one. Dahl was a singer as is his sister Sandra, Emily’s mom. Emily’s cousin Deb, also Dahl’s niece, posted a video that she came across with Emily performing one of her original compositions Homesick with her sax-man boyfriend Toby. Deb commented with the post that she likes to think of Dahl and Emily singing together in heaven. Me too.

Makes me a bit homesick too. Here is another of Emily’s songs True performed by the two-person band known as Dancing with Spock. “Every time I’m near to you, my heart tells me I’m home.”
