“Birthday Greetings!”
Was an expression that I heard my dad use many times greetings family and friends. In his famous book, How To Win Friends and Influence People, Dale Carnegie, devotes a whole chapter on how remembering a person’s birthday endears them to you.
I doubt that my dad ever read Mr. Carnegie’s book and he was not a fan of birthday celebrations, even his own, and yet he understood naturally the importance most people place on marking the anniversary of beginning this particular adventure in time and space.
It does not require a party, an expensive gift, a card, or even singing them the happy birthday day song. Just a short and simple acknowledgement of their special day secures a place in their affections for you. We all find is easier to love those who love and acknowledge us.
Today is the birthday of two of my dearest and best friends and probably many others that I would like to be best friends. Birthday greetings to each and all of you today.
Your friend and fellow traveler,
David James White
