No Stranger, No Opposite, No Other

Instead of seeing the stranger, the opposite, the other we should see wherever we look only the reflection of ourselves and of God. One of the sections in my daily mantra says:

“I go within, I mirror you, I admire you, I worship you, I adore you, I love you.”

When I first added those words and started reciting them aloud, I thought of them as referring to my loving and infinite source, the Universe, my favorite name for the God, who is all in all. Still, over time, I began to realize that those words equally apply to all, to everything. The more we go within the more we discover – as it is above so it is below, as is is within so it is without, and that the great commandment to love God, and the second commandment, to love our neighbor as we love ourself, is really just one commandment, not two or even three, for God, Love, the Universe, is One. Therefore there are no strangers, no opposites, no others only different faces or reflections of the One Love.

I have long believed that what we romantically refer to as “falling in love” is actually being permitted to see God in another. In time may we all learn to use our third eye and see God in everyone, everything, most especially in ourselves. I believe that the secret to loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and our neighbor is contained in a complete understanding of the last two words of the commandment “as thyself.”

“I go within, I mirror you, I admire you, I worship you, I adore you, I love you.”
