Yet Another Night In The Piney Woods

Soon my wife Linda Lee will join me in having spent more time in The Hundred Acre Wood than our son Jonathan (Jay) whose vision it first was. Probably within the next few weeks we will add to Jay’s original sixty acres another just shy of five acre plot bringing the total acreage that he and we own together to within a little over three acres less than his one hundred acre goal.

My dream in conjunction with his was to have a place on his property to hook up an RV Camper and live out the rest of my days there. I had hope that “my girl” who so loved walking the woods of her daddy’s farm would also love this place and that once I had the camper set up would love to retreat here from the big city of Houston with me.

Linda Lee does and we have made it a habit to spend at least a couple of days a week here since I pulled the trailer down from Missouri last month. If you follow this blog at all you know that I believe that “Thoughts become things” and that we create this dream world around us by choosing which thoughts to dwell on and manifest in our lives.

Having already helped manifested a big portion of Jay’s One Hundrea Acre Dream and my campsite on it, my thoughts and dreams have evolved. I now envision a homesite on the almost five acres tract that we are about to close on, with a barn, horses, and pasture to sustain them.

Big dreams you say for an almost seventy-five year old Poppa? Maybe so, and whether I live long enough to realize all of them remains to be seen. Yet, I believe maintaining an ever growing and expanding bucket list of dreams and things that we want to see and accomplish is what helps us to “live long and prosper” to borrow Mister Spock’s famous salutation.

For my Christian and Jewish friends, I conclude with an Old Testament prophecy, “Your old men will dream dreams and your young men will see visions.” This guy may appear like an old man to you young pups and I do indeed dream dreams, but I am still a young man at heart and still see visions of all the things yet to be.
