“The Truth Will Set You Free, But…”
Our Puppet Masters to maintain their control and power over us are forever lying to us. Our new/old President who thinks that he is pulling the strings, but who really is just another comic political stooge like the would be President in The Manchurian Candidate who begs his handler, his wife, to please let him use just one number for how many card carrying Communists there are in the government, so that he does not sound so foolish.
Politics, like religion, is mostly foolishness, with all its outlandish promises and claims. And though the numbers just don’t add up, people still keep lining up to buy tickets to a circus that offers no new attractions, just the same ole same ole. Even as a boy about the age of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer, like them, I found church to be boring beyond belief and even by that young age had heard The Gospel preached so many times that I had the major points memorized and could not understand why the central mission of the church seemed to be the spreading of this wild outlandish story to the far corners of the globe. The Greatest Story Ever Told – it is indeed quite a whopper. Still, like Oz the Magnificent we do so love a good con-job. “Pay no attention to that little man behind the curtain.”
Saul who was later called Paul because he too was small is really the voice behind most of the New Testament as his letters came first, long before the greatest story ever told, in four conflicting and error-filled versions, the Gospels, were penned. Why these fantastic and incredible stories about a life that in all probability never was have been bought and sold over the centuries is beyond belief. Had all these miracles been real some contemporary writers would have mentioned them. Even Paul says nothing about Jesus performing miracles. All that was added later to make a better story. You know like the five thousand people being fed from a little boy’s sack lunch miraculously prayed over and multiplied till after the whole crowd was fed-up they picked up baskets full of leftovers.
Listen, if you really believe that story I have some ocean front property in Arizona that I would like to sell you. Why, are we so tolerant of preachers, politicians, and con men and con women? And so ready to buy their incredible stories. Infamous con-man and mass murderer Adolf Hitler in his manifesto Mein Kampf wrote about “the big lie” as a propaganda tool:

Jesus in one of those four Gospels mentioned above is quoted as saying, “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” John 8:32 And yet the religious system called Christianity is for far too many just another big lie that literally created The Dark Ages that only began to be dispelled by The Enlightenment, a time in which enquiring minds began again to question “truths” that they had been told and sold.
I conclude with the Gloria Steinem picture quote about truth. “the truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off.” Amen!
