People Count

I recall a former pastor used to say, “We count people because people count.” Numeric goals and records were important to him because he believed that he had an important message to deliver and he wanted to share that message with as many people as possible. Over the years I have come to suspect people who want to share their “take on God” as often motivated by some kind of power or money grab, still I believe that every person counts.

Perhaps the original goal of this daily blog was to grow a following of ten thousand so that I might use that numbers to convince a publisher to print and distribute a little book that I had written about my daughter called Emily – The Little Girl Who Sang Her Song To Anyone Who Came Along, yet I soon changed that goal instead to writing ten thousand blogs and trying to become the best writer that I can.

I have resisted offers to monetize my daily blog and can humbly write that I received no remuneration for my writing nor intend to ever charge for what I have freely received. My reward if I need any is believing that writing daily is making me a better writer, and that trying to think of something encouraging to write each day is helping me to be a better version of myself.

My three fold aim of these blogs is to entertain, to enlighten, but most of all to encourage as many as I can along the way. I am trying to Pay It Forward, Freely Share What I Have Freely Received, and Leave Something Behind more than just a Dash Between Two Dates On A Gravestone.
