The Milk of Human Kindness/A Hero Inside Your Heart
One of the casualties of the not so Social Media era has been to a large degree the coarsening of our conversation. Years ago correspondences began with “Dear Sir or Dear Madam” and ended with “Yours Truly” and these day any one who does not think or talk exactly like “us” is considered a traitor or the enemy.
When did kindness become a sign of weakness and crudeness become a sign of strength? I saw a YouTube video ad for a piece called The Seven Teachings of Jesus That No One Follows Anymore. I did not watch it, but I am sure that “Being kind to strangers” was one of those seven lost teachings of Christ while the so-called Seven Deadly Sins are on most popular on today’s play-list.
I personally think it is a waste of time to think that some magical mythical time in the past was “the good ole days.” With Carol King and Carly Simon in the song Anticipation, I believe that these are the good ole days and I look forward with anticipation to better days ahead.
Having said that I have freed myself from the guilt religions and the puppets masters behind them, the preachers, the politicians, and the conmen who would keep us poor, powerless, and in their debt. I have no need of a savior, a hero, or a strong man for I have found all three within. Like Mariah Carey’s wonderful song (link attached) I believe that a hero lies within each one of us, a savior, a strong man that know that true strength is revealed best in kindness to ourselves and to others.
