Happy Anniversary

On this day thirty-six years ago my wife, Linda Lee, and I were wed. It was her first and only marriage and my fourth. She had had other loves before me, but they had not lasted as my previous marriages had not. We were both abit reluctant and commitment shy by this time in our lives, yet very much believed as today’s song says that we had found love in the Nick of Time.

Today is the anniversary of one if not the wisest moves that we ever made and we made it together. Of all the wonderful things in my life I am most glad and grateful for a wife who has stuck by me through thick and then, richer and poorer, and we both agree that only death will part us.

Thirty-two years ago my bride of three years and I attended the twenty-fifth reunion of my High School graduating class, the Chattanooga Central High School Class of 1968 (the only one I ever attended.) We only went to the Friday evening casual get together. It was on a party boat docked on the Tennessee River. There were drinks, and there was dancing, and karaoke. At my wife’s urging I got up right away to sing karaoke (my classmates said they only sang karaoke after several drinks.) It was my first time and I picked a song that I knew well enough to sing, When I’m Sixty Four, by the Beatles. My wife, the number one fan of the man from Tennessee, was pleased and that was more than enough for me. One of the karaoke songs that I most enjoy singing for her is After the Lovin’, originally recorded by Englebert Humperdinck. I will also attach a link to it below.

Happy Anniversary, Linda Lee. Thank you for sticking with me all these years.
