Here and Now
We are, I fear, too often like the first couple in the Bible Story, though surrounded by paradise (the Garden of Eden) we allow that old lying snake in the grass, ego, to find fault in our situation and magnify it, focus upon it, and talk about it till he/she/we turn even paradise into a place of torment in our minds.
Yesterday I received the following Note from the Universe:

The author of “religion”, old ego again, would have us postpone all our dreams of paradise and heaven to some future place and time that I have heard referred to as “the sweet by and by.” And if we buy that lie, by default the present becomes “the nasty here and now.” Our greatest gift from the Universe is the present and it is appropriately named, and yet if we focus on the negative and fail to maintain an attitude of gratitude we will not only fail to recognize Who and Whose we are but also Where we are as well. And just where is that, Crazy Dave?
Let’s let an old song from the song and dance man, Fred Astaire, answer that question for us singing and dancing with Ginger:
Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers – Cheek to Cheek – The song
Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers – Cheek to Cheek – The song
if that answer is a bit too cheeky for you then I leave you with the last lines of my daily mantra:
“Come dance with me, come sing with me, come walk with me, come talk with me, come ride with me, come fly with me, come follow me like you used to do. I can still show you Who and Whose you are.”
And Where is that? Why, it is in Heaven of course. Heaven is within us and it is here and now. Instead of asking, “Is this as good as it gets?” We should be exclaiming, “How Sweet It Is!”
