A Forever Moment Captured
There are those eye-opening moments when we are made aware of a mystery and a majesty above and beyond our understanding, of a light bursting forth to illuminate and innumerate all the blessings of life. To capture such a moment and make it truly ours is to taste the eternal.
I believe that heaven is not some distant place or time but right here inside us and right now in this eternal moment. It is so easy to become distracted by the cares of this life and the deceitfulness of riches to name but two distractions that Jesus named and to overlook and to fail to capture the forever moments.
The love song lyric goes: “This magic moment so different and so new is like any other, since I first found you.” We are indeed travelers here, pilgrims, trying to discover who we are and why we are here. There are for all of us flashes of light, moments when the Universe reveals itself to us in clarity and it all it’s glory,
My daily mantra begins with the words: “My heart and my mind are open, my arms and my hands are open, my mouth, nose, ears and eyes are open to all the Universe has for me for all the Universe to flow in and through me.”
Even at the ripe young age of almost seventy-five I am still amazed each time I experience one of those eternal moments when it is abundantly clear to me just Who and Whose that I am and Why it is that I am here – to experience all there is. I am reminded of the closing line in one of my favorite poems, High Flight, “Put out my hand and touched the face of God.”
