Magic Words
Stage magicians use magic words like Hocus Pocus to perform their magic tricks. Many do not know that those two particular magic words come from the Latin quote of Jesus words at the first Communion after his Last Supper. The Roman Catholic priests say them over the bread to supposedly miraculously turn it into the body of Christ. The magic words translate into English: “This is my body.”
One of my favorite songs has a magic word from the Old Testament for its title – Hallelujah. The dictionary defines hallelujah as a shout of joy, praise, or gratitude:

The third verse in the song linked below speaks of there being “a blazing light in every word and that it does not matter which you heard, the broken or the holy hallelujah.” As children most of us were taught those especially magical words: “Please” and “Thank you.”
I believe that all words are magical, the holy and the unholy ones – the holy and the broken hallelujahs. My good friend Mike Dooley, author of Notes from the Universe ends his daily email Notes with his signature phrase, “Thoughts become things, choose the good one.” Thoughts are magical and words are just symbols of our thoughts. “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God… Who spoke into being all there is.” Amen is another of those Magic words meaning: “So be it, or it is so.”
Choose your thoughts and your words wisely and have a magical day for the magic is within you.
Hallelujah.
Your friend and fellow traveler,
David James White
