Pieces of April
A couple of lines from a beautiful spring love song from my youth comes to mind, “I’ve got pieces of April, I keep ‘em in a memory bouquet. I’ve got pieces of April, but it’s a morning in May.” With only a couple of days in April left after today, we have only pieces of April left before we wake up to a morning in May.
About this time fifty-seven years ago in April of 1973, I met a lovely flower, a young woman named Linda Lee. Little did I know at the time that twenty-five years later I would begin the most lasting and beautiful love relationship of my life. Here is what my Linda looked like back in the day.

That is ever what she looks like to me, my Linda Lee.
I do not know how many more mornings and days that we will have shared together, but I suspect as the song suggests that there remain but pieces of our story to unfold or be told before all that remains is a memory bouquet.
My Linda is a forever flower
Loved & cherished every hour
Every moment together shared
Ever grateful we were paired
Few loves know such lasting leases
All springs & April’s end in pieces.
